Power of Black & White

“Color photography is like a novel that spells everything out in detail, whereas black-and-white photography is like poetry—its strength isn’t in what’s said; it’s in what’s left out.”  – Heinrich van den Berg

Black and white portraits sing to my soul!  With the void of color and the eye catching vividness, you are left with the purity and simplicity of a portrait.  The soul, and depth, of the person captured.

Most of my portraits are printed in color, but I always show the option of black and white in an ordering session. Most decisions are based off your home decor and esthetic and of course, personal preference.

Mysterious and thought provoking, black and white portraits focus on the light and shadows captured.   It leaves out the color that can tell a story in itself.

Which do you prefer?
